Joel joins Gillam Group with over 35 years experience in pre-construction planning and management in the construction industry. Previously, as Vice President Client Services for a national general contractor, Joel was responsible for overseeing estimating, business development and pre-construction activities for projects of all types and sizes, such as: Union Station ($650 Million), Aga Khan Museum ($220 Million), Royal Ontario Museum “Michael Lee Chin Crystal” ($230 Million), Cambridge Civic Centre ($23 Million), Ryerson University Student Centre ($10 Million) and Community Safety Village ($2.5 Million).
Joel began his career as an estimator, rising to the position of Chief Estimator, and subsequently Vice President. He played an instrumental role in the acquisition of P3 projects such as CAMH ($293 Million) and Forensic Services and Coroner’s Complex ($400 Million). As a member of the senior management team Joel was also involved in the overall direction and management of projects as well as the business as a whole.
Joel works closely with clients and consultants during pre-construction to promote a high level of communication and awareness. He has developed a keen sensitivity to client needs and an understanding of the complex interaction between the many stakeholders. Joel believes this approach, combined with a systematic planning process, is vital in order to extract maximum value on any project.
Joel has played a key role on many challenging projects and he is proud to be directly responsible for winning fifteen Toronto Construction Association “Best of the Best” awards. Joel is a cornerstone of the construction industry, widely respected and a strong addition to Gillam Group.
