We recognize clients have a lot of choice in this marketplace for construction services. Our desire is to be a client’s first choice for projects that are challenging and require “out of the box” thinking.

The key to creating and sustaining a high-performing team that delivers consistently over the long-term is to create the right cultural foundation.

Our culture revolves around understanding our clients’ needs, proactively working together and leveraging our shared experiences for the benefit of our projects. Safety on construction sites is of the utmost importance to us. We believe strongly in continuous improvement in all areas of the business. This approach creates a rewarding and inclusive environment for all project stakeholders, as well as high-performing teams over the long-term.

Peter Drucker, a widely respected business strategy author, famously said “Culture eats strategy for breakfast”. At Gillam, we take this to heart. Culture is the cornerstone of our organization and one of our competitive advantages in this marketplace.

Gillam Bell

A new tradition is beginning at Gillam and it has a special ring to it.

Gillam has acquired a 10” antique brass bell to mark significant achievements and milestones. The bell is symbolic and ringing it will not only signify a victory, but also serve to unite and motivate team members, foster positivity, build morale and fuel collaboration. It is a reminder that workplace victories are not won by one person alone, they are won by a team.

The practice of construction companies ringing a bell when they win an award or project dates back centuries. During the Medieval Ages, bells were used to announce functions, celebrations and marking the hours of day. Today, ringing a bell to celebrate a win has become a ritual that has been embraced by construction companies around the world.

Gillam has a lot to celebrate. We will ring the bell not only for awards or projects, but also for significant personal milestones of our Team Members.

Causes for Ringing the Bell

In recognition of COMPANY SUCCESSES, we will ring the bell for the following:

  • Project Award
  • Execution of a Head Contract
  • Project Substantial Performance and/or Occupancy
  • Project Contract Completion
  • Industry Awards
  • Safety Performance Achievements

When it comes to Team Member PERSONAL SUCCESSES, the bell will ring for:

  • Professional Awards
  • Engagement and Marriage
  • Birth and Adoption of Child
  • Advancement in Status of Canadian Citizenship or Residency
  • Completion of Major Certification, Post-Graduate, or Continuing Education Program

The ultimate goal is that the bell brings Gillam team members together to celebrate accomplishments and events – big or small, personal or professional – and forms an integral part of our company culture.
