Craig is a results-oriented, hands-on, innovative and entrepreneurial construction professional with over 37 years of construction expertise in all aspects of the industry. In 2019, Craig became a partner and President of Gillam Group where he oversees all operational functions of the firm. Throughout his career, he has provided executive-level oversight on more than $8B in construction projects covering virtually every building type. His extensive portfolio of projects features mid- and high-rise condominiums, post-secondary educational institutions and research facilities, wastewater treatment plants and hospitals and long-term care facilities – ranging in value from $50,000 to over $500M.
Craig is widely recognized as an industry leader and advocate, demonstrated by his extensive tenure on the boards of numerous construction associations and institutions, where he helps advance solutions to some of the industry’s most pressing challenges and helps educate the next generation of professionals.
With a passion for occupational health and safety, Craig has made it his lifelong mission to help raise the standard for workplace safety in construction. He is regularly asked by the industry to provide leadership on advancing safety initiatives and works closely with the CPO’s (Chief Prevention Officer) Office. He is committed to fostering a culture of safety and integrity on every jobsite.
Craig graduated from Ryerson University with a Bachelor of Technology (Project Management). He was also recognized for his personal volunteer efforts with an Honourary Degree Bachelor of Technology (Construction Management) from George Brown College and is a two-time winner of The Construction Institute of Canada Chancellor’s Award of Excellence in 2006 and 2012. He also received the 2023 Donald P. Giffin Construction Industry Achievement Award, 2020 & 2022 Council of Ontario Construction Associations (COCA) Industry Ally Award, 2022 Infrastructure Health and Safety Association (IHSA) Roy A. Phinnemore Award, OGCA’s Doug Chalmers Safety Award, is a Gold Seal Certified Project Manager along with numerous other awards and became Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Building (FCIOB) in 2010.
