Gillam was selected as Construction Manager for the revitalization of 533 College Street, Toronto – a newly transformed office space for the Akelius Canadian team (a global property management company).

The 4 storey, 37,000 sq.ft. structure is a 106-year-old wood structure building that underwent a full interior demolition and fit out made up of several phases completed in October 2021.

The project scope involved maintaining the existing structure of the building, with occupied space, while also performing:

  1. Extensive interior renovations, everything was stripped back to the existing wood/ brick Structure
  2. Structural upgrades including underpinning, new steel support in the basement and new exit stair shaft
  3. A new functional roof deck (with a great view of the city and the CN Tower!)
  4. The addition of an elevator shaft
