Beth Tzedec Congregation is a landmark congregation dedicated to being a “Community Destination for Jewish Living” and since its establishment on December 9, 1955, it remains a leading voice in the world of Conservative Judaism.

Beth Tzedec Congregation appointed Gillam Group as the construction manager to manage the first phase of a multi-stage construction project. The scope of work includes:

Phase 1a Interior Renovations of the Synagogue included structural modifications, new server, full renovation of the Mezzanine Hall, new curtainwall glazing, wood flooring, wood cladding, feature wood ceiling, mechanical, electrical, feature lighting and new audio-visual system. The sanctuary windows will also be updated under a separate contract.

Key challenges on this project include:

  1. Working within an occupied heritage building, and preserving the existing Peter Dickinson architecture
  2. Coordinating construction access with the ongoing needs of the client organization
  3. Managing noise and vibration
  4. Helping the client get maximum value from a limited budget
  5. Engaging large stakeholder group
  6. All services are delivered in a very collaborative, team-oriented and transparent manner.
