The Chigamik Waypoint Community Health Hub is a 40,000 sq.ft., 2-storey, new build in Midland, Ontario. The centre is located at Edgehill Park with the building integrating into the landscape on a sloped hill. The facility serves as a joint health-centre for both Chigamik Community Health Centre and Waypoint Centre for Mental Health Care.

The site was a former parkland with 5-meter slope difference in elevation from the front to the back of the site, therefore site work was key to the overall development. The building is tucked into the side of the hill, requiring the mass excavation and retaining wall foundation to support the structural steel floor and roof structure. Gillam assisted the design team in selecting the right location and elevation to minimize cost in earth removal from site and to preserve as much forest as possible. The prefinished wood cladding and aluminum and glass, with river rock ballasted roof give the views from sides and top a clean crisp look. The inside has a feature stair with board mark concrete in a clerestory atrium bring light from the walls and ceiling, making it a pleasant facility to visit for the future patients.
