Haven Developments has engaged Gillam Group Inc. as construction manager for the 400 East stacked townhouse projects in Etobicoke. The project consists of two buildings (Block A and Block B) totaling 62 individual units complete with underground parking and a separate Amenities Building. Block A and B are four stories in height and include a combination of 1-BR and 2-BR unit. The above-grade structure consists of a prefabricated, structural stud frame and hollow core slab system.

Key challenges include the following:

  1. Coordination of mechanical, electrical and fire protection routing.
  2. Mechanical equipment in the basement parking must be coordinated prior to construction due to headroom restrictions.
  3. Material handling and delivery into the individual units in the absence of common area corridors.
