The new, York Region Police Marine Unit is constructed on the former Bonnie Boats marina site, at Jacksons Point on the south shores of Lake Simcoe. The building is built using both traditional structural steel over the office and storage areas and pre-engineered structure over the Boathouse section, both resting on pile and grade beam foundations. The exterior comprises metal siding providing a pleasant marine appearance. The building is designed to post disaster requirements and includes a boat ramp, parking onsite storage and separate fueling dock. Gillam delivered the services in a turnkey, design-build approach.
